Post-2015 Development Goals

Below is a list of the 17 new development goals the United Nations plans to implement starting after the year 2015. The previous developmental goals, called the Millennium Development Goals, began in 2000. You can read about how these previous goals affected Lebanon in greater depth on the Millennium Development Goals page of this website. I find the new goals listed below to be a little ambitious. While ambition is a good thing, I think it is very important for the goals to be measurable. If it is too difficult for us to measure our progress and success in achieving these goals I believe it will affect our morale and our overall ability to achieve. It is very idealistic to say that our goal is to end poverty in all its forms everywhere. That is obviously what we would want to ultimately do, however, can it be done in the next few years? I’m not convinced. Unfortunately I believe that poverty will probably always exist in some form or another.
